La Badaude's use of literary and references is informative . It is worth studying Ford Madox Brown's painting of Last of England for clues : the painting communicates a poweful mixture/conflict of emotions.Not as upsetting as LB's quotes from In Memoriam which had me rushing to the snug in my reindeer antlers needing sloe gin.

Immediately went back and read every single installment. I love this beyond words. Can't wait to see what happens. And for our young heroine to make her way to Paris, of course...
