I apologize from the bottom of my heart for the behavior of ugly Americans everywhere. (I promise it wasn't me!)

How awful. I wonder sometimes what has happened to manners and courtesy? Her behavior is unacceptable. I don't believe in apologizing for the behavior of others, but she was just flat out rude. I'd be "salty" as well.

At the time, I was just too stunned. And, as she was in no way an American tourist stereotype (no fat trainers, very good language skills), I feel I can in no way apportion blame to the entire nation. Maybe drawing well is the best revenge?

Insidiously rude. When that happens to me, I console myself with alternative scenarios where I respond with the perfect putdown - too late to be effective but quite satisfying nonetheless (not as creative as your drawing though). How about a scenario where you slam the ashtray back onto their table scattering ash into their coffees and tell them in English that it's not yours.
